405 new cases of COVID-19 and 5 more deaths in VC, reported Dec. 30

Ventura County Public Health officials reported 405 new cases of COVID-19 on Dec. 30, along with five additional COVID-19-related deaths. They urged county residents to follow the governor's Stay Home order and not gather with anyone outside their immediate household.

COVID-19 testing availability on Wednesday, Dec. 30

The Santa Paula testing site is the only one that requires no preregistration to get the free test on Wednesday, Dec. 30. There are also pop-up testing sites in Oxnard, Moorpark and Camarillo that do require preregistration. Preregistration helps save waiting times at the other locations.

Stay Home Order extended for another 3 weeks; 11 more COVID-19 deaths reported in VC

Because ICU capacity is not improving in the Southern California region, which includes Ventura County, the regional Stay Home Order has been extended for another three weeks.

OUSD sets 'safety week' buffer before elementary students return to campus; Chaparral and special day class students to return to campus Jan. 4

Most Ojai Unified School District elementary students will not return to in-person classes after winter break on Jan. 4 for at least a week. Elementary-grade classes will be conducted remotely starting Jan. 4.
However, students in OUSD special day classes and Chaparral High School are able to return to their campuses for in-person instruction on Jan. 4.

Fairgrounds COVID-19 testing site is only county-run site open Dec. 28

Due to weather impacts the following sites are closed Monday, Dec. 28: Moorpark College, Oxnard College, Freedom Park and Santa Paula. Ventura County Fairgrounds is open. It is a walk-in site. Enter on Shoreline Drive. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
