VC reports 18 new COVID-19 deaths since yesterday; 453 new cases

Ventura County Public Health reported the following COVID-19 numbers for Ventura County on Friday:

-453 new cases since yesterday 

-74,671 total cases

- recovered cases

- active cases

-1,051,626 tests performed

-226 hospitalizations 

-52 in the ICU 

-732 deaths (+18 since yesterday)

-18.8% ICU availability countywide

Shooting by CHP officer in Oak View found justified

The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office has concluded that a California Highway Patrol officer who shot a man in Oak View acted reasonably and his use of deadly force in self-defense was justified.

People 65 and up eligible for vaccines

On Tuesday, Ventura County expanded COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to residents ages 65 and older, while noting that appointments for vaccines are limited based on vaccine availability from the state.
