An Ojai COVID-19 vaccination site at Nordhoff High School is anticipated to open Feb. 20.

Since COVID-19 vaccines are now available to Ventura County residents 65 and older — in addition to Phase 1A, healthcare workers and those 75 and older — some may be wondering exactly how to register to receive a vaccine.

The three main ways to receive the vaccines right now are:

— County mass vaccination sites, including at Nordhoff High School in Ojai on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

— Albertsons/Vons pharmacies.

—  Healthcare providers — call your doctor.

Vaccine appointments with the county can also be made for those needing assistance by calling the vaccine registration phone number at 805-477-7161.

The county has vaccination sites at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, South Oxnard Public Health, and Goebel Adult Community Center in Thousand Oaks.

In addition to the Ojai site, the county will be opening additional sites in the coming week on Rose Avenue in Oxnard, and the Ventura County Office of Education’s conference center in Camarillo.

To register for a vaccine appointment with the county:

1. Go to

2. Click on the red button on the right that says: “Phase 1A Tiers 1-3 Vaccine Registration.”

3. Scroll down to where it says: “Register for a Vaccination Appointment.” Select your sector and which dose you are scheduling an appointment for. Click “I understand, please continue.”

4. If there are any appointments available for the upcoming week, choose a date with an available appointment.

5. Fill out the form to register for your appointment.

Albertsons/Vons registration

1. Go to

2. Click on the red button on the right that says: “Phase 1A Tiers 1-3 Vaccine Registration.”

3. Scroll to the bottom of the page where it says: “Other Places to Contact for COVID-19 Vaccinations.” Select your desired Alberstons/Vons location.

4. Click the box to confirm you belong to a population that is eligible for the vaccine and click “submit.”

5. Follow the prompts to get to the calendar to select your appointment date and time.

6. If there are any available appointments, fill out your information and click “next” to schedule your appointment.

A third vaccination option would be to go through one’s healthcare provider. The sign-up process for this type of vaccination appointment will vary by healthcare provider, so contact yours for more information.
